QUESTIONS ABOUT FRANCHISING?
The standard franchise agreement matches the restaurant lease agreement. Most restaurant lease agreements are normally of a 10-year duration, this is typically co-terminus with the expiry of the lease.
The entire process can take between 6 to 12 months; this is dependent on the availability and timeline for the real estate.
The Royalty fee for Café Dépôt is 6% of the gross sales revenue. As for the Advertising Fund fee, it is 2%.
At Café Dépôt, we feel that when an owner is present full time the restaurant offers the best quality food and customer service, most of our stores require one shareholder to be an owner operator.

Yes. We have a team of designers and construction professionals to aid in the construction process.
You may use your own contractor, the Café Dépôt construction team will need to certify them and would include them in your projects tender process. The Café Dépôt Construction team will provide a full set of drawing for contractors to quote on. Ideally only approved certified contractors would provide prices.
Typically store construction takes between 90-120 days, however, this is dependant on the supply chain for materials and availability of contractors.
Café Dépôt is supported by the most national banks in Canada. Café Dépôt does not provide financial assistance although can recommend certain financial institutions to partner with. Café Dépôt will be guiding you throughout this process so that you are able to achieve the desired outcome.
It is strongly recommended that franchisees be responsible for day-to-day operations. Some of our highest performing locations are run by the owner operator.

The ideal real estate criteria for opening a restaurant can vary significantly depending on the type of restaurant, its target market, and the local area’s demographics and competition. However, there are several general factors to consider when selecting a location for a restaurant including; the Location and its visability, accessibility, demographics and Competition; Size and Layout of the unit; does the zoning and permits allow for a restaurant; is there ample parking and/or foot traffic; the rental cost of the unit and cost to install the required serivce required for a restaurant.
